8. dark humor 1 Sept. 2019
Shortly before noon. Carol is working on her new iMac, still getting used to it. Jadah's curled sleeping in a cat basket sitting on the Oriental chair in the sunroom across from Carol. Spooky is also in the same room checking out the birds at the feeder. - Amorella
1158 hours. Today, we head to Lazy Boy to look for a new smaller chair similar to Mom's old one I'm sitting in now. If we find one it will go here in the southwest corner of the living room and I'll put this old Lazy Boy across from Carol in the sunroom, that is, if it fits well. This old chair's double is on the set of the "Stranger Things" series, so Mom bought this sometime in the eighties. Cool beans.
"Stranger Things" affected your soul believe it or not, but it was for the setting not the plot, and one of the keys to it is your mother's old chair. mh
1227 hours. This is a surprise. I am a romantic by nature but sentimentality is not on my list of beables. Nostalgia for the 1980's though rings true. In 1982, I turned forty (as Kim did a few days ago) and in 1985 I bought my new VW GTI. I also saw a psychologist for the first time about losing weight, and within a year I saw another psychologist about my interest in esoteric (metaphysical) thinking. This was my concern and decided I needed to see someone to see if I was 'too far out there' for my own good. He validated my sanity so I felt better. I also decided to moved from Indian Hill High School to Mason (City) High School during these times. Partly this was so I would be in the same school district as daughter Kim when she began first grade. This way we would always be on the same school schedule. This was a very practical decision and worked out well over the years, besides, I had her for AP English her senior year (her decision). Her class, 1997, was very special as I knew many of them from first grade on. Besides. being a World Future Society member, it pleased my heart that Kim was in the graduating class of 2001 at Miami. Looking back on it I guess I had a middle age crisis and didn't know it.
Yes, it was a crisis, no question about that. People go through many more problems than you have in your life, and you feel quite fortunate. - mh
1455 hours. I'm tired of talking about me. Mom always said to "Write about what you know,", but I don't know much, next to nothing, really. I never had a headline except for "Moose Hits Horse". People said that was the headline, but I never saw it -- a high school class joke when a horse with a girl on it shied onto my car. The horse and girl both survived for which I am grateful. Anyway, I'm done for the day.
Post at your leisure, old man. - Amorella
Here's something for you to think about, old man. "You're damned if you do, and you are damned if you don't." Does that give you some satisfaction? - mh
1621 hours. No, it doesn't. We looked at chairs in a couple of stores. We have through tomorrow to made up our minds if we want a sale price.
I agree, an honest thought worth savoring. - Amorella
Mid-evening. You have been watching the weather on Dorian. - Amorella
2131 hours. I was checking the weather from a station in South Florida on how bad it is in parts of the Grand Bahamas. Carol has turned on The Weather Channel. I hate it when I can't find words. It is terrible when I can't find words to say, but it is worse when I can't find words to express my human spirit, my heartansoulanmind. Ha! I'm damned if I can't find the right words, and I'm damned when I can find the right words.
How so? - Amorella
2150 hours. I can't find the right words because the words do not exist. Thus, when I find the words I must choose words that are not wholly adequate to express where I am when I am in such a thoughtless situation. I am a storm without a wind.
More to the point, you are a wind without a storm, old man. - mh
2156 hours. You and Amorella can be terribly blunt, but I cannot argue against your thought, Ms Havisham. There is much more humor in your expression than my previous.
Post. - Amorella
2159 hours. Touché, Amorella. You make me smile, Amorella. You too, Ms. Havisham. I love honesty no matter where it comes from.
Now, that is a thought worth savoring, old man. - mh
